This market's index
Tracks the combined market cap of the top 50 memecoins across all chains, in $1B units.
How it updates
The index follows the summed circulating market cap of the 50 largest memecoins on CoinGecko across every chain, re-ranked on every hourly update. It rises during memecoin season and falls when the meme trade unwinds.
What it measures
CoinGecko `coins/markets` for the `meme-token` category ranked by circulating market cap; the top-50 sum is divided by 1,000,000,000 so one index point represents roughly $1B of market cap.
Methodology
Each run fetches the category's ranked market list from CoinGecko, drops tokens without a positive circulating market cap, sums the 50 largest remaining constituents, scales by the divisor, validates the result is in the usable beacon range, and publishes it through the shared updater path.

Know the limits
CoinGecko curates category membership and verifies circulating supplies; membership changes move the index.
The sum is dominated by the largest constituents (Dogecoin alone is roughly half).
Price, index, and funding
The traded price and the index are different numbers: the index is the measured value, while the price is set by trading and moves freely around it. Funding is what ties them together — positions pay or earn a rate set by the gap between the mark price and a 1-hour average of the index (price above index: longs pay shorts; below: shorts pay longs), which pulls the price back toward the index.
